On Wednesday 19th August the Big Lottery funded project

Can Cook Will Cook run by Ashlyns Organics Ltd in

conjunction with the Rural Community Council of

Essex (RCCE) were invited to assist in the official launch

of the Thurrock Youth and Connexions community kitchen

at The Culver Centre in South Ockendon.

Richard Stark and Amanda Plummer who run the project worked along side the local Deaf Youth Group, volunteers from V involved and members of the Thurrock Youth Parliament to help them produce a range of tasty snacks for all to enjoy.  The official opening was conducted by the local Councillor Charlie Curtis and the new leader of Thurrock Youth Parliament (pictured below left).

This exciting new project will work with children and their carers from disadvantaged backgrounds throughout Essex and North London, aiming to develop skills in cookery, nutrition, numeracy and literacy through running cookery courses. Anyone requiring further details regarding the project should contact Amanda Plummer on 01277 890821, or amanda.plummer@ashlyns.co.uk
